Zambelli, the specialist in roof drainage, recently announced a new partnership with HUBER Solarfix GmbH from Untergriesbach. Together, the companies are offering an innovative mounting and ballast system for photovoltaic installations on flat roofs. This smart combination reduces installation times and provides real sustainability benefits.

Flat roofs offer enormous potential for the solar energy transition. Particularly in industrial construction, self-generated electricity on the roof is a continuing trend. The substructure developed by HUBER Solarfix is based on a clever yet simple system: water tanks made from UV-resistant high-performance plastic are used for 15° elevation and fixation of the PV modules, while also serving as ballast storage. As a result, the ballast tank system does not require roof penetration or additional weighting, enabling particularly quick and easy installation.

The installation of the ballast tanks on the roof begins while the tanks are empty, according to the installation plan. Assembly is carried out using a form-fitting click connection system, creating a modular support structure. The tanks are then simply filled with water and individually ballasted. Afterward, the photovoltaic modules are mounted directly onto the tanks. The PV modules are inserted into the module fixation at the bottom of the adapter and are secured at the top with a clamp featuring a stainless steel claw. The system takes into account extreme conditions such as heat, frost, and evaporation effects, and also integrates cable management for the PV installations. Additionally, the ballast tanks are 100% recyclable.

Depending on project requirements and structural conditions, customized ballast plans can be calculated by HUBER Solarfix GmbH. This allows for application-specific ballast reduction of the ballast tanks. In the standard installation, each ballast tank is loaded with 40 kg.

"We are established metal specialists and typically operate far from plastic technologies. But the HUBER Solarfix principle, as well as the vision of Josef Huber, immediately convinced us. Together, we want to make an active contribution to the sustainable energy transition. We are relying on a novel concept for the installation of photovoltaic systems on flat roofs and on the over 25 years of success and expertise in plastic technology from entrepreneur Josef Huber," explains Johannes Ranzinger, Managing Director of Zambelli Fertigungs GmbH & Co. KG, describing the new collaboration with HUBER Solarfix GmbH.

Since June 2024, the east-west elevation variant has been available from stock.
